Fine Arts & Film
Alico studied Cinematography at the Universidad de Cine (FUC) in Buenos Aires, where he trained and began his film career whilst pursuing in parallel his path as a plastic artist.
Years later he would study Fine Arts at the public Nacional Arts University in San Fernando (IUNA). During these years he assisted live model workshops with Marcia Schvarts at the Cárcova. From his 20 to 30s he rented a space at Taller Bergallo, a shared studio in Beccar with other local artists. During those years he held solo and group exhibitions that enabled him to grow professionally as a visual artist.
Nomad Life
In 2017, at the age of 30, he decided to close his studio in Buenos Aires and initiate a nomad life around the world with his wife. They began in Australia, then traveled through Indonesia, Spain, Holland, Mexico, United States and are based today in Lisbon, Portugal.
During his stay in Oaxaca (Mexico), he attended the Rufino Tamayo art school where he trained in graphic arts, mainly Xylography and Lithography. From there on he began to work more intensively with wood block printing.
His work’s main theme has always been Nature. The idea of sustainability and consciousness are a part of his objectives both in art and life.

After Covid, many people living in apartments at cities noticed the lack of nature in their daily lives. Some decided to move to the countryside, others transformed their homes and their diets.
Me as an artist, I decided to learn about ancient technics, go back to the roots and find out how to create my own watercolors with natural pigments. I wanted to spend more time being and creating in nature. This is how “Native Color” short film was created during the pandemic.

My latest project is called More Green Shadows Project and it’s main objective is to stop deforestation and start reforesting immediately.
I use real shadows from plants and trees, using the sunlight, to create my designs that afterwards become big paintings and in some cases I use natural pigments that I found on different locations. On a digital era, digital processes are part of my workflow and Im always trying to find a look that reflects this.

Previously I’ve been working on the symbology of each place as I travelled through. I named this process a reduction to signs. In search of simplicity, picking the part for the whole, a universe of signs and symbols dialogue when they are put together in a piece of work. The final narrative is subjective and it’s created by each observer.
I interpret nature in form of cycles, transformations, balance, harmony, organic matter, species, textures, forces, lights and shadows. The cosmos is always present in most of my works as an existential perspective by placing a sun, a moon, stars, comets or abstract forms. I believe art as a spiritual connection and the artist as a channel that downloads and shares his creativity.
Why do I make art? I have a deep feeling that this is the way I can help and transform other people and our planet. I believe that we are part of nature and we need to go back to our most essential instinct where we become one with the universe by connecting with ourselves and with all species.
